An update on the 2026 friends of the fulton public library 120TH anniversary gala
After thoughtful consideration, the Friends of the Fulton Public Library have made the difficult decision to cancel the 120th Anniversary Library Gala scheduled for October 16, 2026.
A recent failure of the library’s elevator brought larger concerns surrounding equitable access within our historic Carnegie building into sharper focus. After exploring modifications to the event and several alternate venues, we determined that cancellation was the most responsible decision for our guests, our organization, and our community.
Ticket holders have been contacted directly. Unless otherwise requested, refunds will begin processing on September 18, 2026 and will be returned to the original payment method.
While the gala may be off the calendar, our celebration of 120 years of this building and the Fulton Public Library absolutely is not!
We are continuing work on a historical timeline and community memory display celebrating the people, stories, and moments that have shaped the library over the past 120 years. We’re also looking ahead to new Friends events and fundraisers in the coming months.

Sometimes plans change, but the mission doesn’t.

For 120 years, this historic building has held more than books. It holds the stories of Fulton, Volney, Granby, and beyond. It is where our seniors learn new technology, our teens find a safe space to advise and create, and our children discover a lifelong love of reading.
